Tokaj organizes its writing camp for the 44th time, this year dealing with the Hungarian Revolution of 1956.
President of the Hungarian Writing Alliance, Janos Szentmartoni affirmed that writers played a decisive intellectual role in the 1956 Revolution. Afterwards, the Kadar Administration hunted down the intellectual leaders, liquidating the Writing Alliance and sending writers to jail.
Participants of the Tokaj Writing Camp will try to describe the impacts of 1956 in all kinds of arts, including literature, music, fine arts, theater and films. They will also discover the importance of such effects.
The event is one of the most important regional and international forum of literature.
Tokaj will candidate for the title of European Capital of Culture in 2023.
