The Venice Commission thinks the Hungarian NGO transparency bill pursues a number of legitimate aims, but some of its sanctions are excessive.
"Some of the comments of the Venice Commission regarding the Hungarian NGO transparency bill deserve further consideration", the parliamentary group leader of Fidesz, Lajos Kósa told a press conference on Saturday. He emphasised that the government examines the committee's suggestions because they want to make a good law, which really guarantees transparency. Mr. Kósa reminded that the commission agrees with the goal of the bill and called it a supportable, legitimate amendment.
