The International Medical Travel Journal (IMTJ) celebrates every year excellence in the medical industry in 21 categories. Jury picked Szechenyi Thermal Baths and Swimming Pool for 2016 as the International thermal medical bath of the year.
Hungary has a great tradition of health-giving hot springs, many housed in elegant Art Deco baths like the Szechenyi in Budapest. It's one of Europe's biggest bath complexes with healthy, hot thermal water (76 C). Szechenyi Baths was reconstructed for HUF 1.5 bn and the whole operation took 18 months. According to officials, the award acknowledges the reconstruction's achievements.
