Developing military-to-military relations between Slovakia and Hungary also contributed to the successful protection of the southern border.
Slovakian Defence Minister Peter Gajdos and his Hungarian counterpart, István Simicskó met in Budapest to discuss issues in security policy, the Visegrad cooperation, illegal migration and the bilateral military-to-military relations.
Mr. Gajdos also met Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, who expressed his thanks for the assistance provided by Slovakia to protect Hungary’s southern border “when we were under the greatest pressure”. According to the Hungarian ministry's statement the two countries are working in close cooperation within NATO.
