Hungarian officials, answering to the EC's current infringement procedure launch due to segregation of Roma children in schools, say the country's integration strategy is consistent and several developments has been made in the recent years.
According to Government Spokesperson Zoltan Kovacs the EC has not taken into account any of the developments before launching the procedure. “Hungary more than anywhere has implemented its integration strategy consistently, and the results of this have already started to become visible” he said, adding that the Hungarian law forbids registering children on the basis of their ethnicity, therefore it would be interesting to find out where Brussels has obtained its information on children’s origins.
