Electricity generated using renewable resources edged up by 0.7% to 3,159 GWh last year, the Hungarian Energy and Utilities Regulatory Office (MEKH) said, based on preliminary data.
The volume accounted for 10.5% of domestic electricity generation. About 52% of the electricity was generated from biomass, 22% from wind power, 9% from biogas, 7% from recycled waste and 3% from solar power.
A survey conducted by MEKH showed 59% of Hungarians would be unwilling to pay even 5% more for electricity generated using renewable resources. Only a quarter of people said the opposite.
Figures released by MEKH is much higher than a recent study by Eurostat, which put Hungary's renewable production in the energy-mix at 3-4%.
