The Hungarian public speech team won two gold medals and one bonze at the European Championship of Public Speaking. They can continue in the World Championship of Public Speaking in Washington.
Each year, the Toastmasters International Convention culminates in the final round of the International Speech Contest, where the World Champion of Public Speaking is chosen. Ten contestants from all over the world deliver five- to seven-minute speeches that are evaluated by a panel of experienced Toastmasters.
Each year more than 30,000 of contestants compete in the Humorous, Evaluation, Tall Tales, Table Topics and International speech contests. Both Laszlo Szucs and Tamas Lippner competed in the International speech contest, but Szucs made his speech in English whereas Lippner spoke in German. Contestants had to present a five- to seven- minute speech on a chosen subject.
Peter Hajdu took the bronze in speech evaluation in which he had to observe a five-to seven-minute test speech and then present a two-to three-minute evaluation of the test speech.
