An exhibition presenting the life of the Hungarian soldiers imprisoned in Soviet Gulag between 1941 and 1955 launched on Thursday in Budapest's Museum of Military History.
It's our duty to face this chapter of History and care about the Hungarians soldier’s tragic destiny in Soviet camps, said Tamas Vargha, State Secretary of Ministry of Military. He also mentioned that the Hungarians who came home were not allowed to speak about what they had seen, done and lived, whereas the Communist power rose monuments to the glory of the Soviet soldiers.
The Museum of Military History's exhibition remembers to the 270,000 prisoners who came back from the Soviet Union. Altogether 600,000 Hungarians were imprisoned in the USSR.
