Hungary might strengthen its border control on the Hungarian-Ukrainian border, if it become necessary due the migration crisis.
According to Gyorgy Bakondi, Chief Security Adviser to the Prime Minister, currently and intensive border control system works at the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, but further measures will be introduced to improve protection of that border, if the number illegal migrants rises significantly.
So far border control in the given area has primarily targeted unauthorised border crossing and cigarette smuggling.
“Secret services around the world are paying special attention to migration movements and the increasing threat of terrorism, as they fear that terrorist acts could be committed during the European Football Championship or the Tour de France bicycle race”, he added.
