Secretary of State Miklós Soltész wouldn't leave the European Union, but he thinks the community should break away from liberal internationalism. The Hungarian government is not standing against Pope Francis regarding migration, he told Magyar Hírlap.
"I would vote remain", Miklós Soltész, Secretary of State for Church, Nationality and Civil Relations told Magyar Hírlap when asked about a possible Huxit. Mr Soltész added that he can understand the British people who had enough of bureaucracy and liberal internationalism forced upon the member states. "But our duty is not to leave the European community but to get back to the basics, which were laid down by Christian democratic politicians", he added. The State Secretary emphasised the importance of the quota referendum which would give a great legitimacy for the Hungarian government to fight against the resettlement scheme. Regarding the Hungarian government's and Pope Francis's position on migration he said that liberals like to take out certain quotes from his speeches but if we view them as a whole we can say that there is no opposition between the two opinions.
