The European Union refused to contribute to Hungary's costs for taking care of unaccompanied migrants – almost all of them teenage boys.
”They speak a lot about European solidarity in Brussels, but when they actually have to contribute to humanitarian costs, they refuse that”, State Secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Capacities (EMMI), Bence Rétvári told Magyar Hírlap. He reminded that the István Károlyi Children Care Center in Fót takes care of the unaccompanied minors with non-Hungarian nationality. The 99 % of these children are boys, 95 % of them claims they are between the age of 14 and 18. Currently there are 80-100 minors in Fót, but earlier there have been even 300. Mr Rétvári pointed out that the EU has a separate migration fund, but denied the Hungarian government's claim of 3,6 billion HUF to contribute to the costs. In 2015 9000 unaccompanied minors passed Hungary, he added.
