Drivers experienced difficulties crossing border on M1 motorway Sunday. The ongoing Austrian border control caused 7.5 km long traffic jam.
The Austrian authorities' spot-checking procedure caused the longest traffic jam this weekend on Sunday with 7.5 km traffic. Drivers had to wait approximately two hours to cross the border at Hegyeshalom. Officials ask drivers to continue their way via Sopron and cross the border at Nickelsdorf.
The authorities aims that border control is necessary to control and filter human trafficking form Hungary to the Eastern Austrian regions. They started spot check on 25 April.
