Some 130 employees of porcelain maker of Zsolnay Porcelánmanufaktúra resigned from their jobs effective immediately, abandoning the company for the newly formed Ledina Kerámia.
Ledina Kerámia was created by Zsolnay’s minority owner, the local government of Pécs to take over operations from Zsolnay in the event that it is liquidated.
State-owned development bank MFB cancelled a HUF 413 million loan to Zsolnay, which put the company in financial trouble. The porcelaine maker said it will sue the bank for the move.
The minority owners say the liquidation is inevitable and the staff is transferring to the new company to save a heritage of the 150-year company.
The legal representative of Ledina said the company owned 100% by the local government will take over all staff of Zsolnay, except for those senior managers that have played a part in the company's slide.
