Minister of Human Capacities Zoltan Balog and Pal Maleter receive one of the most prestigious German human rights awards, the Rainer Hildebrandt Medal.
Mr. Balog was primarily awarded the accolade in recognition his work with relation to the social inclusion of Hungary’s Roma minority and his role in counseling refugees from the GDR in 1989.
The Medal was also posthumously awarded to Pal Maleter, Minister of Defense in the Imre Nagy Government in 1956, who was executed following the crushing of the Revolution.
