If we want to fight unemployment on a European level, national education systems need to be more flexible, says Commissioner Tibor Navracsics.
The education systems of the member states should match the increasing flexibility of the common European job market, Tibor Navracsics, Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport explained at the Krynica Economic Forum on Thursday. Mr Navracsics pointed out that while there are more than four unemployed in the EU, there are also two million unfilled jobs, especially in the fields of IT and ICT. He admitted that behind the somewhat lower unemployment rates of Central Europe there are masses of well-qualified young people, especially from Poland, who are working in Western Europe.
