Finno-Ugric nations know that it's essential to protect our national identity, language and culture, according to the Hungarian President.
Globalisation is a challenge to national cultures, which makes it especially important to protect national identity, Hungarian President Janos Ader said at the 12th World Congress of the Finno-Ugric in Lahti, Finland. The world is becoming one single economic space, and many see dangers in this development, he added. Little nations must learn that changes are not always good, Mr Ader added. Unlike big nations – who tend to see complications in many languages and cultures – we think the national diversity is very important, he emphasised. Mr Áder reminded that Hungarians are the biggest community among the Finno-Ugric family, and this means that we have the responsibility of protect our language, culture and identity.
