The ”Hungarian issue” is the mania of the European liberals, according to Fidesz MEP Kinga Gál. Secretary General of FPÖ, Harald Vilimsky called the decisions taken by the Hungarian government regarding migration ”logical and right”.
ALDE MEP's Sophie in 't Veld and Cecila Wikström on Tuesday urged the European Commission, via a written parliamentary question, to react to new legislation on asylum rules that was approved on Monday by the Hungarian Parliament. ”The National Assembly backed a package of amendments tightening the asylum and migration system in the country and approved a 175 km long, 4-metre high fence on the border with Serbia to stem the flow of migrants and refugees,” the ALDE's press release stated.
”I would be surprised if one week would pass without the liberals turning to the Commission about something that the Hungarian government did or said,” Hungarian MEP Kinga Gál told Magyar Hírlap. The Fidesz politician said we should face the reality and find a solution the migration crisis. ”We should host refugees, but most of the people who come to Europe are not eligible for asylum,” Kinga Gál stated. ”It is our duty to protect our borders” she added.
”The decisions taken by the Hungarian Parliament are a logical and right reaction of the malfunction of the EU-Schengen system. There is no other possibility for the nation states to react to the uncontrolled waves of immigration as to impose national measures,” Vice-Chair of the Europe of Nations and Freedom (ENF) parliamentary group, Harald Vilimsky told Magyar Hírlap. The Secretary General of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) reminded that his party ”repeatedly asked for the reintroduction of border controls at the Austrian borders”. ”That was denied by the Austrian government, who obviously does not have the courage to defend the interest of their own people in a way the Hungarian government and Parliament does for the Hungarians,” Vilimsky added.
