Donald Trump's inauguration was greeted with optimistic statements from the Hungarian government.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán sent a congratulation letter to US President Donald Trump, emphasising that his ”historical victory gives him a strong legitimacy from the American nation to make changes”. Mr Orbán added that the world is facing enormous challenges, and this needs a new and brave approach.
Fidesz also issued a statement, the party's communications director, Balázs Hídvéghi stressed that Trump's election marks a new era, when the opinion dictatorship is replaced by clear speech, and decisions are made based on common sense instead of ideologies. He added that the USA is an important ally of Hungary, our cooperation is important and close in economic and security questions as well.
