The Prime Minister urged Ukraine's visa-free travel and ruled out supporting the quota at the meeting of the European Council.

The European Union should give Ukraine the possibility of visa-free travel, Prime Minister Viktor Orban emphasised before the EU summit in Brussels. He said that all legal obstacles have been removed, so now it's just a matter of political will. “I will initiate that we bring about the decision that all of Ukraine’s citizens should be able to enter the territory of the European Union freely without a visa,” he said.

Regarding the mandatory refugee quota, Orban said the European Commission’s proposal didn't have a chance of getting a consensus, since Hungary would never ever support it. “They should withdraw it and put forward a new proposal and start negotiations based on new foundations,” Orban said.
