Prime Minister Viktor Orbán discussed the outcome of the US presidential election and called for higher wages at the conference of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Budapest on Thursday.
We need a firm increase in wages in the Hungarian economy, and this requires increasingly competitive businesses, Hungarian Prime Minister explained at the conference of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). He added that that reducing corporate and personal income taxes, as well as employer contributions were necessary to enhance competitiveness. To sum up his government's achievements in the past six years, Mr Orbán said that Hungary's economic policy is not mainstream, but it's a successful model, the components of which should be incorporated into European policies. He emphasised that his government used an economic mixture to have growth, fiscal discipline, more employment and debt reduction at the same time, which is not possible according to the text books but practice showed that it is possible.
Regarding the US presidential election, Mr Orbán said that now Western civilisation can ”return to real democracy”. He added that liberal democracy is over, so we can return to discourse freed from political correctness and use our common sense.
