Founding member of Vallonia's Parti Populaire, Mischael Modrikamen supports the migration policies of the Visegrad countries and rejects calls for punishing the countries of the region for not implementing the refugee resettlement quotas.
Regarding the meeting of European party Alliance for Direct Democracy in Europe (ADDE) in Stockholm, Mischael Modrikamen told Magyar Hirlap that the main goals of the alliance are the sovereignty of the member states, border control, tax reduction and struggle against Islam. At the European Freedom Awards ceremony former Czech president Václav Klaus was awarded the "European Freedom" prize. According to Mr Modrikamen the European Union in its current state finds itself in full crisis. People's trust in European institutions is very low and if the migration crisis had been handled well on a European level, the EU would have put itself in a lot better situation. He explained that nowadays in the EU there are two different opinions: one says that we need "more Europe", deeper integration to solve problems, while others - like ADDE - say that it's unacceptable for European bureucrats to overwrite the opinion of national governments.
Mr Modrikamen said that ADDE completely rejects the idea to punish the Visegrad states because they are right about migration and made a good choice by rejecting the quota. He added that the vast majority of migrants are economic immigrants and Europe clearly doesn't need them. "We have to help real refugees close to their homeland because even if they are in fact refugees, are values are very different and it would be very hard to integrate them", he explainedm adding that "even if in small numbers, terrorists can also find their way to Europe among the migrants. Mr Modrikamen also explained that the first decision of the Vallonian parliament to reject CETA was mainly a PR action of the region's socialist politicians.
