The deputy group leader of Fidesz urges opposition parties to support the anti-quota amendment.
Gergely Gulyas, deputy group leader of Hungary's ruling Fidesz party called it an unprecedented irresponsibility not to support to amendment of the constitution which would rule out the mandatory resettlement of foreign population to Hungary. Mr Gulyas told a press conference on Sunday that there is almost a consensus about the necessity of the amendment in Hungarian politics, as – apart from the socialist MSZP which hasn't take part in the discussions at all – both opposition Jobbik and LMP finds the text of the amendment acceptable. He reminded that for the success of the amendment the government needs a two-third majority, which means that in addition to the governing Fidesz-KNDP coalition at least two opposition MP's should vote yes. ”We hope that the interest of the country is the priority of the opposition too”, he added.
