Divers experience at least four kilometer traffic on M1 motorway due to the Austrian border control started Monday morning.
According to the Austrian authorities, border control is necessary to control and filter human trafficking form Hungary to the Eastern Austrian regions. All tourists, part-time workers or full-employees must carry their valid travel documents, even though the border is within the Schengen Area.
Authorities have already announced to make preparations for a fence along the Hungarian-Austrian border.
Currently, the Hungarian and the Austrian officials ask drivers, especially truck drivers, to choose other border crossing, not the one on the M1 motorway at Hegyeshalom.
