Approximately 1,000 Hungarian taxis closed the main roads of Budapest Tuesday to demonstrate against ride-sharing services, Uber and WunderCar. Their blockade caused traffic chaos in Budapest.
According to taxi drivers, Uber and WunderCar drivers still operate against the law and the Hungarian government isn't effective enough to make them increasing fares and meeting straighter requirements. Taxi drivers blockaded the main roads of Budapest stopping traffic in the whole city center.
Uber with perfect PR, on the other hand, gave a clever answer with offering “an exceptional” 50 percent discount during the morning and the afternoon if people choose Uber over a taxi.
The demonstration ended around 1 pm but taxi drivers promised to protest again next week unless an effective government action.
