Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto discussed migration and the future of the EU with Latvian Minister Edgars Rinkevic in Budapest.

”Hungary and Latvia want a European Union that is built on strong member states, and while we both reject a federal Europe, we agree that common EU politics must continue and EU institutions must remain within the framework provided for by the treaties”, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Peter Szijjarto emphasied after meeting his Latvian counterpart, Edgars Rinkevic in Budapest. He added that the two countries form a strong alliance and agree on many important issues. Migration was also among the topics, Hungary and Latvia firmly agree on the importance of protecting the EU's external borders and the upholding of the Schengen Zone, ha added.
