Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó emphasised the importance of security when meeting his EU counterparts.
Security has to be the number one priority in Europe, and there are less and less debate about in the EU nowadays, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó said at the informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Bratislava. Migration crisis created extraordinary terror threat, worsening crime statistics and more violent attacks against women, this is why the issue of security has to overwrite everything, he explained. Mr Szijjártó added that this situation combined with the instability in Ukraine made the security situation of Europe critical. The minister made five suggestions: he said that Europe should have a common army, a common strategy to protect the external border, to stop the criticism on Turkey after the coup attempt, to support those Mid-Eastern and North-African countries which are not capable of stopping migrants and finally, to continue the EU enlargement.
