According to the foreign minister Hungary and Europe should respect the UK's choice to leave the EU, even if it's not in our interest.
We need an agreement between the United Kingdom and the EU which doesn't harm British-Hungarian relations, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Peter Szijjarto said at a conference in Budapest. He added that Hungary rejects the approach that we should punish the British for Brexit, because according to the Hungarian position we should respect their decision, even if Hungary's interest would have been if the UK remained. The minister explained that the Brexit is a political defeat, because the British were speaking pragmatically and factually in the debate about the EU's future, the sovereignist camp has lost ”its loudest voice”.
