PM Viktor Orban and PM Boyko Borrissov had talks Friday discussing Hungarian-Bulgarian relations and migration influx.
Mr Orban stated the Hungarian-Bulgarian relations are based on mutual respect that forms “a very strong foundation for the two countries’ cooperation”. He also added that bilateral economic relations are flourishing, business cooperation has yielded positive experiences, so further steps should be taken for an increased the level of cooperation.
Mr Borissov also mentioned projects by Hungarian firms in Bulgaria and talked about resumption of direct flights between Budapest and Sofia.
As for the migration influx, they agreed on migration causing serious issues in Europe. Orban suggested that Bulgaria should be part of the Schengen Area, as it has been the best performing country outside the Area.
According to Borissov, common European solutions be found. He emphasized the importance of European solidarity and also hoped for productive talks in February that concludes mass migration cannot be allowed to continue.
