Everything in the migration crisis stands or falls on whether or not Europe closes its borders, said PM Viktor Orban Friday at the EU summit.
Mr. Orban stressed that Hungary is successfully protecting its borders. Greece is unable to close its borders, however, while Italy is either unable or unwilling to do so. “From a European point of view, the situation in Italy is dramatic and it is fragile in Turkey”, he added.
He also stressed that Brussels could redress the situation by altering the “unrealistic” rule under which asylum-seekers may not currently be held in custody. In a nutshell, Hungary strongly believes that EU borders should be closed for illegal migration. And that could be the best solution for the migration crisis.
