The number of people crossing illegally the Schengen Area border in Hungary has exceeded seventeen thousand.
By midnight on Tuesday 17,008 illegal border crossings had been recorded. According to the Hungarian police, this number was 64,770 at the same time last year, and 6,484 the previous year.
