A recent poll concluded that George Soros is very unpopular in Hungary, and the majority of the people reject the so-called ”soft-power” which he exercises.
George Soros and the political organisations he supports have been playing an important role in Hungarian and European public life in the last decades, the Századvég Foundation recalled in its recent poll.
According to the poll conducted December 2016, 61 % have an unfavourable opinion about George Soros and 14 % like him. People's opinion is strongly influenced by their political identity. While 80 % of right-wing people and 55 % of those who consider themselves to be ”center” have an unfavourable opinion, the relative majority, 41 % of the left-wing people like him. Except for the leftist-liberal Democratic Coalition (DK) and the liberal Together (Együtt), among the supporters of all the other parties those who don't like Soros are the majority.
The poll clearly shows that 88 % of the people reject the so-called soft power, when foreign political or economic forces influence the internal affairs and the government of a country through NGOs. Only 9 % supports these activities. In this regard the Hungarians are united, the majority of the supporters of all political parties have an unfavourable opinion about these activities, and the reason is sovereignty.
The other reason for the negative attitude towards Soros is that he openly supports illegal migration. Previous polls have proved that Hungarians are concerned about migration.
