The Ministry of Human Resources discussed setting up a students' council with the student parliament.
The Hungarian Student Parliament initiated setting up a nationwide students' council to be able to discuss important issues between the sessions of the parliament, the state secretary responsible for education, Laszlo Palkovics announced yesterday after the closing plenary session of the student parliament in Szekesfehervar. The students made a 52-point statement, of which the parliament rejected two. Mr Palkovics said the most important issue was that the representatives of the ministry and the students should meet more often than once a year. He also stressed that the national student parliament would hold sessions every second year instead of every third year, while the student parliaments of the counties would meet every year. According to the state secretary these are supportable suggestions but the financial and legal background should be established by the parliament.
