The government agreed with the social partners about hiking the minimum wage by 15 percent and the guaranteed minimum wage by 25 percent.
Hungarian Minister of National Economy announced today that the government and the representatives of the private sector employers finally reached a deal to hike wages while cutting the payroll tax paid by the employers. According to Mr Varga the minimum wage will increase by 15 percent in 2017 and another 8 percent in 2018, while the payroll tax will be cut by 5 and 2 percentage points in the next two years. He added that for skilled workers the guaranteed minimum wage, a higher wage category, will increase by 25 percent in 2017, and another 12 percent in 2018.
