Mercedes Announces €250mln Investment in Kecskemét

German carmaker's investment jumps reaches €1.3bln

German carmaker Daimler will invest €250 million on building a new bodywork unit at its plant in Kecskemét, bringing the total amount of its investment in Hungary to €1.3 billon. 

The investment will be completed in 2018. The new chassis production hall will produce next-generation compact car bodies with the help of state-of-the-art technology and will bring the firm’s total investment at the Kecskemét plant to over €1.3 billion, the company said. 

The Kecskemét plant was opened in March 2012. The German car-maker rolled out its 500,000th car in February. It manufactures the compact B-class models, CLA coupes and the CLA Shooting Brake in Kecskemét.
