Minister Lázár talked about the new higher education law and the Hungarian migration policy at his press conference.
”The new higher education law is limiting neither the freedom of education and research, nor the autonomy of the universities”, the Minister Heading the Prime Minister's Office stressed during his weekly press conference. János Lázár said that the government wants equal possibilities and clear rules of competition in higher education, so Hungarian universities suffer no disadvantages. ”We are ready to answer” to Brussels, Washington and Berlin, he added. ”George Soros's network” has put Brussels, Washington and Berlin under serious pressure, ”the lobby against Hungary is constant”, but we protect the country from these organisations, he said.
According to Mr. Lázár the government "has a problem with George Soros, but this has nothing to do with the CEU, its students and teachers". ”What George Soros has done in connection with illegal migration during the last few years is hurting the national interests of Hungary. We can't let anyone to organise illegal immigrants to our border”, he said.
The Minister expects debates of a yet unseen level with Brussels regarding the redistribution of asylum seekers in the EU. He said that both the European Commission and the Parliament will put Hungary under pressure, because certain groups – mostly the liberals – want Hungary to take part in the redistribution of migrants according to a quota.
