"The Influx of illegal migrants must be heavily controlled, but it's our duty to help them while they are in Hungary", László Lehel, head of Hungarian Interchurch Aid told Magyar Hírlap.
Due to the unprecedented mobility of people in Europe, the Hungarian Office of Immigration and Nationality is so overloaded that relief organisations have to help, said László Lehel. The Hungarian Interchurch Aid's objective is to provide targeted assistance to improve conditions of migrant families, women and children during the asylum procedure. The first major relief action took place in the Nagyfa temporary reception center where Hungarian Interchurch Aid– based on the financial support of the Lutheran Church in Hungary – handed over relief items in a total value of HUF 1 million (appr. EUR 3,200) on 1 July, 2015.
"Europe can barely take care of so many people", Lehel thinks. The mobility of migrants is obviously well-organised, they payed a lot to those traffickers who gave them false hopes, he added.
Some people say that we should accept all people because they freshen up our culture, whereas others say that Muslim culture can't be harmonised with Christian-Jewish culture, thinks Lehel. "The Hungarian Interchurch Aid has worked in Muslim countries during the last two and a half decades, we have many experiences, so i know for sure: these two cultures are hard to harmonise. It's reasonable to control migration", the director added.
