Minister of National Economy Mihaly Varga unveiled new strategy, called Irinyi Plan, to generate the driving force required for long-term economic growth. The Plan aims to make Hungary to have the most highly developed industrial sectors by 2020 among the EU countries.
The proper growth in manufacturing sector output can be achieved with adopting new technologies, increasing energy and material efficiency, mitigating regional inequalities, increasing vacancy creation and optimizing utilization of domestic resources.
Mr Varga stated Hungary must turn to an innovation-focused economy. “The industrial sector must be supported by up-to-date knowledge, research and development as well as tertiary and vocational education”, he said.
The program mentions seven priority areas, such as vehicle manufacturing, manufacturing of specialized machinery and equipment, health industry and tourism, food industry, green economy, info-communication industry and defense industry.
