At a memorial session the president of the parliament discussed the responsibility of intellectuals and writers.

The Hungarian parliament held a memorial session on Saturday to remember the role of writers in the 1956 revolution. Laszlo Kover, Speaker of the Parliament said the support of intellectuals was needed to establish the communist system after 1945, the their loyalty was also needed to protect the legacy of the revolution. Mr Kover emphasised that neither dictatorships, nor democracies are established only by the politicians, but with the help of the intellectuals.
