Regional energy ministers will agree on connecting the gas pipelines, says Szijjarto.
Hungary's energy security can improve spectacularly if we will be able to buy gas from the direction of Romania and Croatia, said Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Peter Szijjarto after meeting Commissioner Miguel Arias Canete. Energy ministers of the Central and Southeastern European countries will sign an agreement in Budapest on Friday, according to which they will realise the North-South gas corridor by connecting and improving the already existing national systems, instead of building a new, big pipeline. This North-South infrastructure is crucial for Hungary, the lack of it means serious energy security and national security risk for the Central European countries, Mr Szijjarto added.
