Sergei Lavrov and Peter Szijjarto stressed the importance of cooperation between the West and Russia.
”Hungary's interest is the pragmatic and close cooperation of Russia and the US, based on mutual trust”, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto told a press conference after meeting his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov in Russia. He added that it's ”Hungary's evident interest” that the West and the East can cooperate, and now finally the international processes are supporting the Russian-Hungarian cooperation. When asked about the new American foreign policy of the Trump administration, Szijjarto and Lavrov stressed the importance of the fight against terrorism and non-interventionism. The two foreign ministers met in Russia to prepare the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest on February 2.
