The Hungarian family support system is unique as no other country has a similarly wide and complex support system, said Minister of Human Capacities Zoltan Balog at a Tuesday conference.
While the European average is 2.5 percent of budget is spent on family support, Hungary spends four percent of its budget in addition to other family-favouring regulations, such as as part-time jobs and different types of financial support. “The number of working women has risen by 200000 since 2010 thanks to the Fidesz government’s actions”, said Mr Balog.
Secretary of State for Family and Youth Affairs Katalin Novak added that mothers with toddlers can not only work part-time, but the law strictly orders that employers have to provide a part-time occupation.
Such actions hopefully increase even more the number of employed women.
