A Hungarian-Bulgarian Business Forum was held in Budapest where Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto and the Bulgarian Minister of Economy Bozhidar Lukarski met to discuss business and political relations.

Mr Szijjarto stressed that Hungary is strongly behind Bulgaria's potential joining to the Schengen Area. “Hungary is urging for Bulgaria to become a member of the Schengen Area as soon as possible, because it would also give further impetus to growth in Hungarian-Bulgarian trade flow”, he said.

He also announced a soon-to-be-signed Hungarian-Bulgarian Cooperation Agreement that provides a secure legal background for business deals.

Mr Lukarski talked about economic and political goals of Bulgaria, stressing that the country wants to maintain a stable economic and political situation and sustainable economic development, including the “extremely important” Hungarian economic relations.
