According to Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjen, the Hungarians and the Croatians belong closely together.
Mr Semjen pointed out at the opening of the school year at the Croatian Kindergarten, Elementary and Secondary School that the Croats and the Hungarians are tied together by their almost 800 years of common statehood. He reiterated the common past and history of the two countries. As for the present, he noted that the current Hungarian government effectively assisted the country's southern neighbour’s accession to the European Union.
