Swarming Under The Stars by Imre Potyo has been shortlisted to the 52nd annual Wildlife Photographer of the Year (WPY) competition.
Mr Potyo photographed the wonderful event that only happens a few days each year fro a while when the given pic was taken under the starry sky on River Raba, Hungary. It's a long exposure shot with flash and flashlight.
As he said to the Daily Mail, “the fantastic mass swarming of these mayflies is one of the most exciting phenomenon” for him, and this image is extremely “precious” as he could “draw the attention to these spectacular water insects and their complex ecological light trap”.
Winners will be announced on 18 October, and an exhibition will be on display from the 21 October at Natural History Museum, London.
