Ostrich breeding is one of the growing activities of Hungarian agriculture, as the demand is increasing.
More and more local councils in Hungary are breeding ostriches, as the demand for ostrich meat has doubled in Western Europe in the last five-six years. Switzerland is one of the main consumers, but it's popular among the elites in England, Germany, France and Italy too. Several localities are started these activities from the funds provided by the public work programme.
