Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto answered criticism of SPD nominee for Chancellor, Martin Schulz on Hungary with calling Mr Schulz as “a man of the past”.
“Martin Schulz is a man of the past and represents the politics that caused the current problems”, Mr Szijjarto said Monday, adding that Mr Schulz “did nothing to prevent illegal immigration, which is bringing with it terror, and his goal is still not the protection of the people of Europe. His criticism of Viktor Orban is exclusively aimed at gaining support within German domestic politics”.
He also stressed that “Martin Schulz is wrong” as Hungary shows a high level of solidarity with Germany. “No illegal immigrants are reaching Germany via Hungary” and “Hungary controls the external border of the EU, and spends a lot of money to mobilize police and military personnel”, he added.
