Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto has officially opened the new Hungarian Embassy in Wellington.
The new embassy will reinforce contacts with the three thousand strong Hungarian diaspora living in New Zealand, and strengthen the Hungarian presence in the Pacific region. It will also improve trade and cultural relations and help to realize economic policy goals.
Hungary is the eighth EU, and second CEE, country that opened a diplomatic representation in New Zealand.
