Unemployment rate is at a historic low, whereas number of economically active people has reached a historic high in Hungary, said Minister for National Economy Mihaly Varga Tuesday.
“Hungary’s unemployment rate has hit a level unseen since the regime change of 1989, and the number of economically active people has concurrently reached a historic high”, commented Mr Varga KSH's latest report.
Since the regime change, the number of people in employment has gained 677,000, with the bulk of growth registered in the private sector (up by some 450,000). Furthermore, according to Eurostat data, Hungary’s unemployment rate was the fifth lowest within the EU in July 2016.
