The number of young residents has doubled in the last five years, announced Parliamentary State Secretary Bence Retvari from the Ministry of Human Capacities.
According to Mr Retvari, such achievement is the result of Hungary's Resident Support Program and the HUF 5 bn that the government has spent on the program. In 2010, only 420 residents were able to start their essential trainings, this year 917 young doctors entered into residency.
Resident Support Program contains five different types of scholarships, giving HUF 100000, HUF 150000 or HUF 200000 plus income to residents.
