Roger Scruton's thoughts can provide basis for a new Europe, says Zsolt Nemeth.
”The thoughts of British philosopher Roger Scruton decisively influenced the Central-European 'conservative revolution', which can be experienced first of all in Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic”, head of the Hungarian parliament's foreign relations committee, Zsolt Nemeth said at a Warsaw conference where Roger Scruton was decorated.
The British philosopher was decorated by Marek Kuchcinski, speaker of the lower house of the Polish parliament, the Sejm, he received the prize of the Lech Kaczynski foundation, named after the late Polish president.
Mr Nemeth said that he was asked to hold the welcoming speech by Roger Scruton's Hungarian friends. ”Given that Scruton is probably the most important conservative philosopher of our time, I'm convinced that his thoughts will influence Europe's future too, because the already mentioned Central European countries can provide examples for a new, alternative and conservative attitude in Europe, which includes the nation states and nations in the integration process”, he added.
